BMW E46 M3

One of our biggest jobs to date! Worthy of a slightly longer than usual write up...

When the owner of this early E46 M3 first brought the car in for me to inspect, the initial request was to give it a general clean up and an Enhancement Detail.

The car had been the pride and joy of her late husband and clearly had huge sentimental value, so we were very happy to advise on and manage what turned out to be a much bigger restoration than had originally been planned.

First issue was that several panels had rust, lacquer failure and heavy stone chipping and were beyond saving by polishing alone. So the car was sent to our local bodyshop for a front end respray along with various other local repairs.

Then it was into the Autostore workshop for a full service which included replacing a worn lower suspension arm, investigating a running issue and repairing the air-con. It should be said that the 'DIY' maintenance from the owners late husband had been top notch, with torque setting tags on most bolts and suspension components. Mechanically the car was well cared for.

Next it was the iconic 19" diamond cut wheels... except they were no longer diamond cut. Someone had had them fully painted, and not all that well it must be said. The paint was bubbling and peeling all over the place. So off they went to our wheel refurb supplier RRT to be stripped and assessed and thankfully, once stripped they were actually in almost perfect condition! A couple of days later they were returned, fully refurbished back to OEM spec. We supplied and fitted new tyres and then it was on to the detailing.

Over the next 5 days, two of us worked on every surface of the car, cleaning, polishing and protecting. Old window tint was removed, paint was polished to a perfect shine with lights and trims removed to aid cleaning and polishing in every little corner, bumpers were removed to aid exhaust polishing and for re aligning (E46 bumpers tend to sag a little with time). The paint was then protected with Gtechniq Crystal Serum Ultra and Exo and the newly refurbished wheels coated in Gtechniq C5

No less than 110 man hours of detailing went into achieving what we were aiming for...... one speechless and rather emotional owner.

Thank you Emma for entrusting us with this job.
